As one who benefits from the NHS in the UK (and I recognise that it has many imperfections), I've been following with interest the issue of US healthcare reform. I've been bemused at some of the arguments, I've been infuriated at the way our NHS has been unjustly maligned but, mostly, I've been disappointed that many deserving people were being denied the right to decent healthcare for overtly political reasons. I do hope that the result today will be seen as a big step towards a necesary goal.
